Description:
From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.
Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.
Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie… and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.
Review:
Wow. Wow. Wow. Just Wow. I need not tell you the rating, I guess? Because this book deserves all the stars I have. It had a normal beginning. The middle kept me hooked but damn the ending!!! It made the hair on the back of my neck rise. I had goosebumps all over my body as I was reading the last chapter. Now, I cannot wait to read the next book. I don’t how SjM does it but I just cannot get it out of my head now.
I found Celaena to be arrogant, pompous and full of herself but the development she was given was amazing. She is the most powerful female protagonist one could write about.
I found Dorian to be a cheesy mainstream princeling but damn the secrets that got revealed. It blew my mind.
Chaol’s character was so realistically written. Flawed and imperfect. He made mistakes but if he hadn’t, it would have been really bland.
I adored this book. I think what I heard from the people was true. The series has gotten interesting, starting the second book.
Favorite characters: Dorian, Chaol, Celaena, Nehemia, Kaltain (I liked her in this book. I understood her powerlessness.)
Despised characters: Archer (He made my blood boil), King (of course), Mort (somehow, I did not like him)
Favorite ships: I still ship Chaol with Celaena. And I ship Nehemia with Dorian. But argh! How can I make it happen?!???!
I rate this book 5/5🌟
Thank you, Sarah J. Maas for such beautiful books!
